AC Milan to challenge Sheffield United for Alex Collado
Barely a month or so after the transfer window was abruptly closed, Sheffield United are once again linked with a move for Barcelona winger Alex Collado.
Collado was due to sign for United on the deadline day. However, a number of factors, which Prince Abdullah later attributed to printer issues (do what you want), caused the 22-year-old to remain in Catalonia.
Just a few weeks ago, Collado was linked with United again. Barça boss Ronald Koeman has no interest in playing the young Spaniard. So it looks like a forward move in January is likely.
However, if United are to land Collado, they may have to fend off European giants AC Milan to do so. That’s according to Semper Milan, who claims to have spoken to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo about Milan’s interest in Collado.
It is suggested that Milan have made initial contact via representatives to see if a deal for Collado is possible. As it stands, however, nothing is said to be concrete.
This means United, if they wish, can kick off another move for Collado in January. Slavisa Jokanovic reportedly wants more breadth in the squad after failing to land a winger this summer.
Our point of view: Alex Collado remains a risky signing
And that’s how it really is. If he comes in January, he will need time to adjust to United, the league and Slavisa’s style of play. By the time it upgrades it might be a lost signature anyway.
Milan’s interest, however, is something to take into account. This suggests that Collado is definitely a talent worth watching. After all, why would AC Milan look if you’re not a decent player? Let’s not forget that this is a player that Barça fans once compared to Lionel Messi!
If United signed Collado we would all be behind and crossing their fingers he did well. But there are still a lot of risks here too.
