BforPlanet claims public-private partnerships as the key to promoting the SDGs

The event highlighted the need to secure a firm commitment from the private sector for the achievement of the SDGs in the most immediate future, and to promote economic recovery from the pandemic by promoting sustainable development through the establishment of ‘solid and transversal alliances between governments, businesses and society.

In this sense, the president of Barcelona Fira, Pau Relat, stated that “BForPlanet took a first step and proved to be a necessary event to contribute to the engagement of all actors involved in the achievement of the SDGs and to generate new bridges of collaboration to secure a sustainable future. “

For his part, the co-founder of BforPlanet, Francisco Lombardo, called on the international community to “define a new human right: the human right in the future“emphasizing that”the generations to come will be a vulnerable collective in itself.“

Companies, experts, governments and startups

The new Barcelona event made Barcelona the international epicenter of the sustainability debate for two days with the participation of experts, senior politicians, business leaders and representatives of international institutions and organizations such as the World Bank, the OECD, the UN, the EU, the Barcelona city council. , Government of Spain, the government of Catalonia or the World Wide Fund for Nature, and companies such as Amazon, Agbar, Danone, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Unilever, Renfe or BBVA, among others.

In addition, BForPlanet participated in the campaign of the international NGO Plant-For-The-Planet, helping to plant more than 5,000 trees in different forests around the world.

The congress held yesterday and today at Palau de Congressos du lieu de Montjuïc, brought together more than 83 international experts and 40 companies, and registered some 1,000 participants in person, and another 4,000 through its digital platform, from 38 countries. Barcelona Fira is working on the next edition of BforPlanet, scheduled for May 2022, which will combine a congress and an exhibition space.
