Fira de Barcelona takes over the management of the CCIB

Fira de Barcelona has completed the first month of managing the city’s CCIB (Barcelona International Convention Center).

La Fira now manages three large rooms with an exhibition area totaling nearly 500,000 m² and hosts more than 250 events per year, some of which are world leaders.

With this new license, granted by Barcelona Town hall for a period of 25 years, Fira de Barcelona now fully manages the main exhibition centers of the city (Montjuic, Gran Via and the CCIB).

Deputy Mayor Jaume Collboni believes that Fira will now strengthen its position in Spain and Europe “as one of the main institutions for the organization of trade fairs and congresses, a key sector for the future of Barcelona and in which we remain committed if to attract new events to improve the standing of the city. Relaunching trade fairs is a key factor in getting out of the crisis which leaves no one behind while contributing to the creation of quality jobs, one of our priorities as a city. Everyone knows that Barcelona is one of the best cities in the world to organize congresses, a sector in which we are world leaders, and in the coming months we will show that we will be even stronger in the post era. -pandemic. .

Constantí Serrallonga, Director General of the Fira de Barcelona, ​​expressed his satisfaction at the idea of ​​taking over the management of the CCIB, declaring: market and the projection of the city as a pole of attraction for major events. Fira de Barcelona takes over the management of the CCIB after a transfer from the former management, GL events. Fira CCIB, whose CEO is Marc Rodríguez, is now part of the Fira group.

The Barcelona International Convention Center, inaugurated in 2004, is located in the Besòs area, in the technological and business district known as 22 @. It consists of two buildings: the Congress Palace and the Fòrum Building, which houses the Auditori Fòrum, connected by an underground boulevard. It has a total area of ​​100,000 m².
