IBTM has signed a new three-year contract with Barcelona Convention Bureau and Fira de Barcelona which will see its flagship event IBTM World take place in the city until 2022.

IBTM World Director of Events David Thompson said: “We look forward to continuing to evolve IBTM World to ensure that it remains at the forefront of the industry when it comes to providing the best opportunities for doing business, as well as presenting advanced technology. and provide inspiring content and learning opportunities for delegates.

Despite the industrial action that coincided with the event at some editions of the fair, the Barcelona Convention Bureau believes the events to be a key driver of the city’s economic growth.

Christoph Tessmar, Director of the Barcelona Convention Bureau, said: “This new agreement confirms the strength of the partnership between Barcelona and IBTM and allows us to continue to deliver what is an incredibly successful event, both for the meetings industry and events, but also in terms of positive economic impact for the city.

IBTM World has been taking place on the site for 15 years, with the next edition confirmed at Fira Gran Via from December 1 to 3, 2020.
