It was a glimmer of confidence for the safe return of live events to the city.
Integrated Systems Events General Manager Mike Blackman opened the show and said, âThis event is important to the audiovisual and live events industries, as well as to the city. It’s been a 17 year journey to get to Barcelona, ââso it’s bittersweet not to do the big bang we were hoping for on our debut, but we know the value of live events in building trust, deepening relationships. business and stimulate business. Hope this sends a message of confidence to cities around the world that live events can be safe and successful. We will be back in Barcelona, ââwith all our might, in February 2022.
ISE’s first hybrid event, which combined live and digital content, brought together 1,431 in-person attendees on Day 1 and 990 on Day 2 in Barcelona. More than 8,000 people signed up for ISE Digital, which had 120 live sessions and generated 13,759 unique views, 107,718 minutes of viewing (1,778 hours) and 442 online discussions.
Speaking at the event, Jordi Puigneró, vice-president of the government of Catalonia, said: âToday we reopen Barcelona and Catalonia to the world. This event celebrates the reactivation of fairs and congresses, paving the way for economic and social recovery.

All site visitors tested negative on the Covid-19 anti-allergen test before entry and were wearing FFP2 NR face masks inside the site. Reviews indicate that ISE Live & Online in Barcelona has been positively received by the audiovisual industry, with optimistic comments from exhibitors:
âBarco attended ISE 2021 in Barcelona to connect with our customers. We have been virtual, in video sessions for too long and we needed to meet face to face. The future is hybrid, which means there will be video, there will be conference calls but there will be a lot more face-to-face. Finding our partners is what energizes us, âsaid Peter Pauwels, vice president of EMEA sales at Barco.
Oriol Massague, Field Marketing Manager at Panasonic, said: âAfter more than a year of no events or exhibitions, we were thrilled and delighted to meet people face to face once again. Lenders, buyers, systems integrators, distributors and sellers⦠everyone!
âISE is the focal point of the audiovisual sector all over the world, it is the meeting point. Thus, having the meeting point in Barcelona will concentrate our economy in the sector. We must keep in mind that in Catalonia we have a large number of audiovisual companies, we have 1,100 companies with more than 26,000 employees in the sector. So having this meeting point here in Catalonia will strengthen the sector in the future â, said Joan Romero, CEO of ACCIÃ Catalonia Trade & Investment.
âA great opportunity to relaunch the audiovisual industry and open up new business opportunities. Sono is a Spanish company and we have always been visitors to ISE. Having the show at home is great for us. We were able to meet customers and suppliers and saw a huge interest and a great desire to reactivate the industry. It has been a very positive experience for us, so we are very happy, âcommented Ramon Vilar, Project Manager at Sono.
âIt was a pleasure to be face to face with our customers again, to discuss and share with them, and to reconnect with the industry,â said Luis Garrido, Executive Director of Alfalite.
Sharing the highlights of their event, Marta Fernández, CMO at nsign.tv commented: âTo reconnect with current and potential customers and show that life goes on, that the digital signage industry continues to grow and that the pandemic only accelerates it. And we are all convinced that the 2022 edition will be a great success.
Showcasing some of the best AV solutions, start-ups and thought leaders in the industry, ISE Live & Online has provided a fitting curtain raiser, in difficult times, for ISE 2022.
âOver the past year and a half, audiovisual professionals have shown their determination to stay connected virtually, while eagerly awaiting the opportunity to meet in person. Thanks to the commitment of many, exhibitors at the Fira, the city of Barcelona and the Government of Catalonia, we were able to come together in person to learn, network and celebrate the audiovisual world at ISE Barcelona â said David Labuskes, CTS, CAE, RCDD, CEO of AVIXA. “It was wonderful to welcome the AV community back and we can do it again at ISE London on June 23-24!”
Giles Sutton, Interim Co-CEO of CEDIA added: âIn a week that celebrated World Exhibition Day, it was fantastic to see ISE return as a hybrid event. The live show gave attendees the opportunity to engage with the industry and network with colleagues and friends – something we’ve all been missing out on lately. The positive atmosphere that was felt in and around the showroom was a sign that exhibitors and visitors alike were happy to be back. ISE Digital performed very well alongside the live event, providing those who couldn’t attend a platform full of content. This hybrid event was a big step towards bringing the industry back to normal and we look forward to returning to Barcelona in 2022. â
