Juventus target exit-linked Barcelona striker valued at €20m – report
Memphis Depay is most likely set to leave FC Barcelona after falling down the pecking order at the club. Mundo Deportivo reports that Juventus are interested in his services and could be one of the Dutchman’s potential destinations.
Depay joined Barca at the start of last season on a free transfer after his contract with Olympique Lyon expired.
The 28-year-old took the lead for the Catalans but injuries plagued his season, rendering him unavailable for a few months. He then lost his place to Barca January signings Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres.
With the arrival of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, the Dutchman now knows that his services are no longer required by the Blaugranaand agreed to leave the club this summer.
The Netherlands international has attracted interest from many sources including Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Napoli.
Depay’s first goal is to join a Champions League side. The Dutchman is also said to be looking to avoid the Premier League due to his negative experience with Manchester United in the past.
The Dutchman is waiting to return from his tour of the United States before deciding on his future. The player, who is aware that he will have a limited role this season, is evaluating the offers on his table and will decide shortly.
Juventus are targeting Depay as a potential second striker to back Dusan Vlahovic as they are aware of his situation in Catalonia, according to Tutorial Juve.
They have given up on trying to secure Alvaro Morata permanently from Atletico Madrid and are therefore looking for a new signing for the role, with Depay as one of the candidates for the job.
According to the report, Barca have set an asking price of €20m, however, the player believes the asking price may be too high considering he was signed for free.
