Aldi is developing an ambitious expansion plan in Spain and so far this year has opened 22 new stores (six are relocations), five of which are in the Valencia region – including four in Alicante – and six in Andalusia.
From January to August, nearly 27,000 square meters of supermarket sales space was added to the low-cost chain’s portfolio in Spain, bringing the total number of outlets on the Costa Blanca to 60, along with 82 more. on the Costa del Sol.
These additions include new openings in San Fulgencio and El Vergel as well as store transfers in Orihuela and Petrer, all in the province of Alicante, and a new supermarket in Alboraia in Valencia.
This is equivalent to 23% of the overall expansion, behind Andalusia where 27% of the company’s new stores have been opened (in Roquetas de Mar, Chipiona, Aljaraque, Cadiz, Chiclana and Conil)
The rest is mainly concentrated in Madrid, Catalonia, Tarragona, Barcelona, the Basque Country and San Sebastian.
“In order to achieve this expansion and growth plan in Spain, the company plans to expand its logistics area in the country by more than 50% over the next two years,” said Aldi, who currently has 108 400 m2 of logistics land in Spain. .
This extension plan includes the construction of a new warehouse in Sagunto (Valencia) and the extension of another in Dos Hermanas (Seville).
