PR-B schools extend distance learning from Grades 7 to 12 until November 16

According to a Pine River-Backus Schools Facebook post, the school district has extended its distance learning mode for grades 7 to 12 through Monday, November 16. The district announced on Tuesday, October 27 that these classes would switch from distance to distance learning for the remainder of this week.
“With a significant number of employees in quarantine and positive cases in our school, the extension is necessary,” we read on Facebook. “At the moment, elementary is not affected.”
Students in Grades 7 to 12 should continue to follow their regular class schedule by connecting to their class with each teacher. Although high school students have already started the school year remotely, this differs from distance education last spring, with students connecting to each class via Zoom at the agreed time and essentially taking an online course.
The district has offered in-person options for students who need extra help or for whom virtual classrooms don’t work. And Fridays have been flexible days for students to come to school and meet teachers face to face if needed. In-person options will not be available during this distance learning period.
Also effective immediately, all athletics will also resume for two weeks until November 16. This includes all matches and training.
