Paris Saint Germain plans to hijack FC Barcelona’s candidacy to sign Bernardo Silva.

The Portuguese midfielder is now the Blaugrana’s main target in the transfer market after successful deals that have seen them land Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Kounde in recent weeks.

Reports from Catalonia on Wednesday morning say there is ‘optimism’ Silva will be signed before the window closes, but any deal hinges on whether Frenkie de Jong leaves for City rivals Manchester United or, more likely now their 2021 Champions League final. Chelsea opponents.

In the French capital, PSG don’t have to wait for further deals to be agreed and, according to Le10 Sport, are planning an approach for Silva that would derail Barca’s plans.

Replacing the dismissed Leonardo, who was apparently under the orders of Kylian Mbappé after signing a three-year contract extension, the new sporting director of PSG, Luis Campos, has a very good relationship with Silva and his agent Jorge Mendes and therefore sounds a potential coup. .

As with Mbappe, Campos knows Silva well from their Monaco days together, with a successful run to the Champions League semi-finals in the 2016/2017 season and a Ligue 1 title win seeing PSG come for Mbappe and City for Silva.

Unlike Mbappe, however, who notoriously snubbed Real Madrid to stay where he is at the Parc des Princes, Silva is currently longing for a change of scenery.

Although he is open to joining the La Liga giants, who are confident the player will wait for them to sort out their financial affairs and offload De Jong, Silva would also be open to a move to PSG.

The reigning French champions consider it essential to sign players who can make a difference from midfield and believe Silva fits the mold perfectly.

For Barça, seeing their plans sabotaged by the Parisians would see them taste their medicine.

This summer, they intervened twice when players – namely Raphinha and Kounde – appeared to have come to terms with Chelsea, but ended up holding their own for Barca and dropping the west Londoners to the side. ‘altar.
