Former Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria is running out of time. The Argentina international has a solid offer from Juventus on the table but the lure of donning Blaugrana’s royal blue is forcing him to delay his decision, Spanish publication SPORT report.
As of today, the 34-year-old is standing on a knife edge as the Italian side want to know whether or not he will accept their offer this very week. As such, their proposal is, in fact, the most ideal.
After their initial proposal for a two-year contract was rejected by the player, the Turin team offered a one-year deal with an option to extend for another year.
On top of that, a generous salary of around €7m per season with bonuses was also included.
The aforementioned proposal meets all the 34-year-old’s needs but he still hasn’t put pen to paper as Barcelona have been on his mind.
For the Blaugrana, they know Leeds United’s Raphinha is the priority at the moment but finding a deal for the Brazilian isn’t a matter of days. This will require a significant effort and equal time.
In fairness, the chances of Barcelona signing Raphinha this summer are slim anyway as the €50m price tag is too high for Barcelona to consider. Not to mention that Arsenal’s reported interest may spoil the party in Catalonia as well.
Barcelona know the influence they have since the Brazilian is represented by one of their former players, Deco, but they can’t wait long to solve the problem, which suits Di Maria perfectly.
Although he knows Barcelona are very interested, Juventus’ offer will most likely expire soon if he doesn’t come up with a definitive answer.
In another scenario, if Juventus pull out of the deal and Barcelona somehow manage to sign Raphinha, the Argentine will be left without any suitors.
