Smart City Expo becomes Smart City Live in 2020
The first international summit of cities and urban innovation creates an event in the age of Covid
Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), the main international summit on cities and smart urban solutions organized by the Fira de Barcelona, will hold an innovative edition on November 17 and 18 under the name of Smart City Live. The Urban Summit will present a new two-day format aimed at providing the best possible urban knowledge platform in and for the context of the Covid19 pandemic.
The new Smart City Live will bring together leading international smart city players, institutions and experts in a new virtual and interactive format comprising two different blocks, including a one-day live TV show broadcast on November 17 on the website and media social events, and day two program including online workshops and side events.
SCEWC Director Ugo Valenti said that “our main goal this year is to provide a platform to reconnect and rebuild ecosystems and accelerate the recovery of urban ecosystems, with a new model that allows us, through digital support, to connect and reach all stakeholders in our industry. The current situation will undoubtedly mark cities and their functioning, but it will do so for good, helping us to build metropolises capable of better providing the services and resources their inhabitants need and ready to respond to new threats. Smart City Live is our contribution to this collective effort. “
The live TV show on November 17 will focus on the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, how it has affected cities in particular, and how metropolises are redefining themselves to adapt to this new scenario. Through interviews, debates, reports and success stories, Smart City Live will address, among other things, recent developments in mobility, consumption and services.
On November 18, the event will bring together key players and global institutions to discuss, through digital workshops and panel discussions, the main challenges cities face beyond the short-term context posed by the pandemic. .
New 365 days platform
In addition, SCEWC will also launch Tomorrow.City, a new platform designed to provide businesses and governments with resources that combine research, technology and investment throughout the year. With a multi-actor approach and thanks to collaborative intelligence, it aims to accelerate sustainable and inclusive cities for all and will take place through four different action areas focused on data, knowledge, business and awareness.
The SCEWC will return in 2021 in its full format and will be held in conjunction with the Smart Mobility Congress and the Retail & Brand Experience World Congress from November 16 to 18 at the Gran Via de Firta site in Barcelona.
