UBS launches US equity-focused Climate Aware Equity Index to help investors achieve their environmental and financial goals

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–UBS today announced the launch of the U.S. version of the UBS Climate Aware Equity Index, a rules-based strategy that aims to provide investment exposure to the long-term theme of transitioning to a low-carbon and resilient to climate change.

The index aims to meet the growing demand for investment and retirement products that not only help investors achieve their investment goals, but also mitigate climate-related risks in their portfolios and integrate environmental objectives. in the investment philosophy.

Presented by Global Atlantic in a Registered Indexed Annuity (RILA), the UBS Climate Aware Equity Index is a pioneer of climate-focused indexes in the US RILA market. The index includes equity securities of large and mid-sized US companies, while steering the allocation towards companies that are expected to succeed in a low-carbon economy.

The index applies a systematic, rules-based approach to selecting and weighting index components based on climate scores. Current and forward-looking data is used to assess a company’s carbon footprint and assess its projected carbon emissions profile. The UBS Climate Aware Equity Index scoring aims to capture key climate change risks and opportunities using six climate scores; carbon emissions, coal power, fossil fuel reserves, renewables, emissions trajectories and severe weather.
