The world’s largest seafood fair, the Seafood Expo Global, which is due to take place in September of this year, has been postponed until April of next year. The company Diversified Communications, organizer of the show, announced on Wednesday that the 28th edition will take place from April 26 to 28, 2022 in Barcelona. The event had to be postponed from its initial date, April 27-29, 2021, to September 7-9, 2021.

“Our top priority is to have the best interests of our clients in mind,” said Liz Plizga, vice president of the Diversified Communications group. “After assessing the concerns of suppliers and buyers regarding the lingering uncertainties caused by the current COVID-19 situation around the world, it became clear that 2021 would still be too early to host an international event capable of providing the global experience. which adds value to the seafood community, ”the organization said in a statement.

Seafood Expo Global / Seafood Processing Global is the world’s largest seafood exhibition, an event that brings together more than 29,000 industry professionals from around the world. The show has representation from more than 158 countries and the complex regulations and government restrictions of each country to deal with covid “make it impossible to hold a large-scale global event in September 2021.”

“We are committed for Barcelona,” added Plizga. “We will continue to work with Fira de Barcelona and the city to ensure that we can organize an in-person event that adds value and that brings together, at the Gran Vía site in 2022, the international representation that makes Seafood Expo Global / Seafood Processing Global a global fish market and the world’s largest seafood trade fair. “

“We have already received contracts for the 2022 edition and a strong interest in participating from all sectors of the seafood industry around the world. We look forward to celebrating the most successful first edition in the beautiful city of Barcelona, ”said Wynter Courmont, Director of Diversified Communications.
